Abstract
The introduction of exotic dung beetles into two Chilean continental areas is the starting point for some considerations about the responsibility of biologists for the preservation of biodiversity. Authors stress the necessity of a deep knowledge of the bionomics of the exotic species eventually implied, as well as the structure and ecology of the native communities, previously to any attempt of introduction.
