Abstract
This appendix describes the operating principles and modulation methods of the most com-monly used voltage source converter (VSC) topologies. In addition, a number of illustrative examples are provided to aid in the understanding of the relevance of each converter and its power system application(s). The level of detail presented in this appendix is intended to be adequate to allow a wide range of readers to appreciate most of the power electronic concepts and devices presently used in power networks.
