Abstract
Four malonylated dammarane-type triterpene oligoglycosides, named malonyl-ginsenosides RbHRb2, Rc, and Rd, were isolated from the water-soluble portion of the dried root of Panax ginseng C. A. meyer (Araliaceae), together with previously known ginsenosides. On the basis of chemical and physicochemical evidence including metastable ion analysis of liquid secondary ion mass spectra, the structures of malonyl-ginsenosides Rb1Rb2, Rc, and Rd have been elucidated as 3-0-[6-0-malonyl-β-D-glucopyranosyl(l->2)-β-D-glucopyranosyl]-2O-0-[β-D-glucopyranosyl(l-→6)-/f-D-glucopyranosy l]-20(£)-protopanaxadiol, 3-0- [6-0-malony 1-p- D-glucopyranosy 1(1 → 2)-R- D-glucopyranosy 1] -2O-0-[a- L-arabino-pyranosyl(l→6)-β-D-glucopyranosyl]-20(£)-protopanaxadiol, 3-0-[6-0-malonyl-β-D-glucopyranosyl(l-»2)-β-D-gluco-pyranosyl]-2O-0-[a-L-arabinofuranosyl(l-»6)-β-D-glucopyranosyl]-2O(A)-protopanaxadiol, and 3-0-[6-0-malony 1-β-D-glucopyranosyl(l->2)-β-D-glucopyranosyI]-2O-0-[β-D-glucopyranosyl]-2O(5>protopanaxadiol, respectively. © 1989, The Pharmaceutical Society of Japan.
