Abstract

This, the second of two articles on double hull tankers, outlines the impact of corrosion of high tensile steel and the remedial importance of tank coatings. It discusses corrosion and consequential hazards including gas leakages and loss of structural integrity. The importance and maintenance of coatings for internal surfaces in cargo tanks and water ballast tanks is considered.
