Abstract

The aim of this research was to describe the understanding of the resonance concept, its recognition and use by systemic therapists. A qualitati ve meth od o logy and a descript ive design we r e used. Six psychologists with Systemic Therapy training who work in clinical settings participated. For data collection, the semi-structured interview was used and the data analysis was conducted according to the Int erpretative Phenomenolog ical Analys is (IPA) procedu r es and protocols. Th e main results indicated that the resonance is understood as a bridge between therapist and patient and it is considered as a skill that develops gradually. The therapist through self-observation visualizes changes in himself and subsequently gives meaning to their experience.
