Review of the recent blackouts and the enlightenment

Abstract

With the development of technology, the connection between the power system and the social economy has grown to a high level. To avoid the massive damage caused by power blackouts, in this study, several large-scale blackouts that happened around the world recently have been reviewed and analysed. First, the backgrounds, processes and causes of the blackouts are elaborately illustrated. The causes are summarised into some main points, and coping strategy for each point is discussed. Finally, some enlightenments are concluded to cope with the blackouts and guarantee the security of the power system.
