Abstract
The categorization of aulacodicultures according to their vulnerability is studied in order to facilitate their financing in Benin. The selected aulacodicultures were analysed as follows: the establishment of the classes of viability through main component analysis and typological analysis; model estimation allocation of an aulacodiculture to its viability class by linear discriminant analysis; verification of the model performance to prevent financial failures. Based on a random and stratified sampling by department ¼ of the national aulacodicultures is selected. Three classes of viability are identified among the 108 family aulacodicultures and 2 classes among the 22 aulacodicultural companies. For financing 44 aulacodicultures are retained. The class characteristics showed that the non-viability of Aulacodiculture is due to technical failures and economic inefficiency. The viability gradient revealed that aulacodiculture companies were more technical and profitable than aulacodiculture family. The classification error rate was 5% for the family aulacodiculture viability model and 0% for the corporate sector. The two types of aulacodiculture, when they are classified as non-viable by the corresponding models, are risk-supported, and require a long term of financing.
