The Role of Extracurricular Activities in Forming Students’s Character

Abstract

This study aims to determine the role of extracurricular activities in shaping students' character education. Character education is an important aspect in the process of forming students' personalities from an early age, and extracurricular activities are considered as one of the effective media in instilling these values. The method used in this study is a descriptive qualitative method with data collection techniques through observation, interviews with teachers and students, and documentation of extracurricular activities. The results of the study indicate that extracurricular activities at SDN 190 Cenning, such as Scouting, sports, and arts, are able to foster character values such as discipline, responsibility, cooperation, self-confidence, and social concern. The role of the supervising teacher is also very important in guiding students so that they can take positive values from each activity carried out. Thus, it can be concluded that extracurricular activities in schools contribute positively to the formation of students' character.
