Abstract
We carried out a research study designed to assess test-retest reliability for the Maudsley Addiction Profile interview (MAP). The sample comprises 646 patients (79% male and 21% female), with a mean age of 36 years, treated for alcohol (39%) and other substance abuse problems (61%). More than sixty clinical and research personnel, of both sexes, conducted interviews. We estimated correlation coefficients and kappa coefficients. The majority of these reliability estimators showed acceptable or adequate test-retest reliability for the main indicators assessed with MAR with Pearson correlation coefficients of around 0,80 or above. The sex of the interviewed, type of interviewer and principal substance (alcohol or drugs) did not have substantial effects on MAP reliability.
