Abstract

Women's History is a new field in Brazil. It goes back to the late 70's and it has two differente origins: the feminist movement and its influence on Social Sciences; and a specific dynamics of historical research leading the historian from Historical Demography to Family History and finally to Women's History. It is also related  to the recent documentary in Social History and the use of new kinds of sources, more concerned now with everyday life.
