Abstract
Anthracnose caused by Colletotrichum gloeosporioides Penz.) Penz. and Sacc. is one of the most important diseases of mango. The nutritional studies were taken up to know the best source of carbon and nitrogen required for the growth and sporulation of the fungus. The study indicated that out of six different carbon sources tried, mannitol was found to be the best source of carbon for the growth followed by fructose and sucrose. Heavy sporulation was observed where maltose was used as carbon source followed by moderate sporulation in fructose and lactose. Among the different nitrogen sources tested, ammonium nitrate supported good growth and sporulation. Potassium nitrate and sodium nitrate also showed good growth but with moderate sporulation.
