Abstract

Six new saponins, ilexosides XLVI—LI, were isolated from fresh leaves of Ilex rotunda, and their structures were elucidated on the basis of chemical and physicochemical evidence. Ilexosides XLVI, XLVII, L and LI are 3,28-bisglycosides of ilexosapogenin A, spathodic acid, bredemolic acid, and siaresinolic acid, respectively. Ilexosides XLVIII and XLIX are 3, 28-bisglycosides of hederagenin. © 1993, The Pharmaceutical Society of Japan. All rights reserved.
