Abstract
The objective of this article is to present the author's summary of some years of reflection and action on ecology and its relation to education. Issues concerning the theme of sustainability are presented in the globalization context, supporting a sustainable lifestyle and the construction of a new and holistic paradigm. The concept of sustainability is emphasized as a good opportunity for educational systems to renew their principles, policies and practices.
