Abstract
The poly(3-hydroxybutyrate) (PHB) are an important biopolymer with biodegradable and biocompatible properties. When PHB is submitted to structural modification with maleic anhydride (MA) is possible to obtain PHB with superior thermoplastic characteristics. A gas chromatography (GC) method has been optimized and validated for simultaneous determination of monomeric proportions (0 to 20% w/w in MA) in PHB/MA films. The results demonstrated that the analytical procedure is a consistent chromatographic method to identification and quantification from PHB and MA isoamilic esters derivatives.
