Abstract
Fungi are specialized microorganisms that have a biodegrading role due to their hydrolytic enzyme activity. Airborne fungal spores are a key element of the microbial community of air, whereas a fundamental source of cellulosic medium for the proliferation of a varied set of fungal organisms in the presence of ambient temperature and humidity. Appropriate measures are necessary to keep the library space free of moisture and dust; otherwise, the fungus will have ample opportunities to grow on those materials and transmit illnesses to the human population. Our study attempted to identify the aeromycoflora as well as their concentration and diversity at the Kalinga University Central Library in Chhattisgarh, India. The results of our experiments inferred the presence of many fungal types belonging to varied 6 families. Aspergillus niger, Alternaria alternata, Cladosporium sp., and Penicillium sp. were prevalent and made up a significant portion of the population; therefore, improving circulation and lowering relative humidity were necessary to control the environmental factors that limit mould growth in the library setting.
