Abstract

The high voltage ride through (HVRT) performance of the multi-offshore wind farms and thermal power plants bundled system (MOWTPPBS) meets the standard requirements, which is one of the key technologies to ensure the safety and stability of the system. This paper investigates the effect of bundled thermal power plants on the HVRT capability of multi-offshore wind farms. The theory analysis show that the thermal power units can increase the short-circuit ratio (SCR) of the MOWTPPBSs; At the same time, the thermal power units can also regulate reactive power into the MOWTPPBS by the excitation regulator according the terminal voltage variations. Both the two above aspects can improve the HVRT capacity of the MOWTPPBSs. Finally, a model of an actual MOWTPPBS is built on PSCAD/EMTDC to verify the reasonableness of the above research results.
