Abstract
Cognitive disturbances appear in almost 50% of Patients with MS. They refer to attention, memory, conceptual thinking and mental flexibility. Language functions as well as general intellectual abilities are generally not affected and may thus mask particular cognitive deficits. Cognitive Dysfunctions which may develop during the disease course exert a crucial role on private as well as vocational activities. Therefore a neuropsychological evaluation should be performed as early as possible within the disease course. We present a newly developed screening-instrument (MUSIC) to evaluate cognitive deficiencies in this patient group.
