Abstract
The aetiology, diagnosis and treatment of peripheral facial nerve palsy are discussed. Fourcases of facial nerve palsy following dental procedures are reported. Following a revision of the world literature during the last 23 years, the 25 cases of facial nervepalsy documented are analysed and divided into four groups on the basis of aetiology, speed of onset and recovery and modes of treatment suggested.
