Abstract

A representative meeting of New Zealand geophysicists has recommended the use of the International System of Units (SI) in the publication of geophysical results in New Zealand as from 1972. Conventional multiples of SI units are recommended for certain physical quantities, and in magnetism, a preference is given for the use of the tesla (T) as the unit of the magnetic field (or magnetic flux density) measured by a magnetometer, of the ampere square metre (A m2) as the unit of magnetic dipole moment, of the ampere per metre (A/m) as the unit of magnetisation, and of a dimensionless unit of magnetic volume susceptibility. © 1972 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
