Narrative production in the meeting with otherness

Abstract

In this article, we present a research study based on a methodological proposal that aims to increase the agency of participants using narrative productions as a basis for research and social transformation by creating a Women's Circle of Roma and non-Roma culture. As a qualitative methodological tool, narrative productions are based on situated knowledge in relation to what we personally experience. The central idea is the production of a structured text based on the information gathered by the researcher during participatory observation sessions and interviews. The results show that narrative productions constitute an instrument for knowledge and pedagogical and political formation and provide the opportunity to develop reflection and self-reflection and creative skills, and engage in decision-making. During the research, it has been observed that working with narrative productions is a good strategy for promoting empowerment among the participating women and overcoming imposed social representations.
