The Relationship Between Exam Preparation Anxiety and the Menstrual Cycle in Adolesecent

Abstract

Introduction: Adolescence is a transition period that connects childhood to adulthood, physical changes are seen in young women who are experiencing the menstrual cycle. One of the causes of menstrual cycle disorders is psychological factors such as anxiety. Anxiety in adolescents is characterized by the appearance of anxiety, a state when negative emotional arise due to fear of unexpected dangers that may occur in the future. Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine the correlation between the level of anxiety in facing exam preparation and the menstrual cycle in adolescent girls. Method: This type of research is a quantitative research approach cross sectional. The population in this study were adolescent girl. The number of samples in this study were 56 people, who were taken using a proportional random sampling technique. Data collection tools using questionnaires and data analysis conducted uji spearman rank. Result: The level of anxiety with the menstrual cycle of female adolescents in the moderate category was 46.4% (26 people). This shows that there was a relationship with a significance value of 0,000 (< 0,05). The value of the correlation coefficient was r count 0.474, it’s mean that there was a sufficiently close relationship between the variable. Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between the level of anxiety facing exam preparation and the menstrual cycle in adolescents.
