Abstract

The comparative actions of inhaled leukotriene C4 (LTC 4), leukotriene D4 (LTD4), and histamine were studied in six normal subjects. LTC4 and LTD4 were shown to be more potent bronchoconstrictors than histamine, with a more sustained action. LTC4 and LTD4 caused wheezing without coμgh or throat irritation and were shown to act on large and small airways.
