Abstract

Crisis of power is one of the major problems in Bangladesh. At present, electricity production in Bangladesh is mostly based on the existing reserve of conventional energy sources as fossil fuel like gas, coal, oil etc. which is not sufficient to meet the present and near future power demand. A comparative study between power generation form different energy sources and world energy consumption indicates that power generation from nuclear energy will facilitate to optimize energy mix and diversify countryʹs energy source to get out of the chronic power shortage problem, sustaining the power development in Bangladesh. Considering the global trends to nuclear power, electricity generation from nuclear power plant could be the best option for Bangladesh to cop up with the growing demand and overcome energy and power crisis.
