Abstract
The main objective of this paper consists in analyzing whether social entrepreneurship, practiced in Morro do Jaburu, has culminated in one or more factors of social, economic, political, environmental, educational and managerial order that comprise a process of local development in the region. The theory used to address the topic related to local development was built, mainly, by Franco’s studies (1995, 2000a, 2000b, 2002, 2008). Besides the documentary research and semi-structured interviews, the field observation was also used for data collection. The analysis od the data collected were based on Bardin’s content analysis (1977). We concluded that some social entrepreneurship actions, practiced in that area, result in the catalyzing processes of local development in the studied society.
