Some Origins of French Environmentalism: An Exploration

Abstract

The development of French state forests, forestry and national park policy is examined as a background to understanding the relations between the state, the environment and the evolution of natural resource management in France. A concluding section briefly examines the rise of the contemporary environmental movement
