Rehabilitation of children with multiple disabilities

Abstract

Celem pracy jest przedstawienie rehabilitacji słuchu dzieci z upośledzeniem sprzężonym, w tym dzieci głuchoniewidomych po wszczepieniu systemu implantu ślimakowego. Ze względu na szerokie spektrum przypadków, jak i stosunkowo małą liczbę przypadków w poszczególnych ośrodkach, trudno jest opracować jeden spójny program rehabilitacji. Jednakże bazując na danych zebranych z poszczególnych ośrodków można wyznaczyć kierunek postępowania, do jakiego należy zmierzać w rehabilitacji słuchu dzieci głuchych z wielowadziem. W 2010 roku zostało zgłoszonych do Kliniki Rehabilitacji IFPS przeszło 100 dzieci w wieku do lat 3 po operacji wszczepienia systemu implantu ślimakowego, z czego 22% poza głębokim obustronnym niedosłuchem miały dodatkowe poważne problemy zdrowotne. Najczęściej współwystępujące wady wśród tych dzieci to: mózgowe porażenie dziecięce, głęboka dysfunkcja aparatu ruchowego, padaczka, zaburzenia w polu widzenia, zespoły genetyczne, niepełnosprawność intelektualna.The aim of this paper is to present the hearing rehabilitation of disabled children with additional handicaps, including deafblind children after cochlear implantation. Due to the wide spectrum of cases and the relatively small number of cases in different centers, it is difficult to develop one coherent program of rehabilitation. However, analysis based on data collected from different centers can determine the direction to proceed, and what should be aimed at the rehabilitation of deaf children additionally multiple disabled. In 2010, the IFPS Rehabilitation Clinic has rehabilitated more than 100 children aged up to 3 years after implant surgery cochlear implant system. From this number, 22% excluding profound sensorineural hearing loss have additional serious health problems. Predominatingly coexisting defects among that children are: cerebral palsy, profound locomotive dysfunction, epilepsy, visual field disturbances, genetic syndromes, mental retardation.
