Production profile and impacts on the development of fish farm activities in micro-regions in the State of Amazonas

Abstract

A brief diagnosis of the productive profile of fish production in the state of Amazonas was developed to collect data on the participation of each productive segment of this activity in the microregions of Amazonas, according to the division adopted by the Institute of Agricultural and Sustainable Forestry Development of the State of Amazonas (IDAM). Fish production in the state of Amazonas was classified according to microregions between January and December 2018. Alto Solimões, Jutaí / Solimões / Juruá, Purus, Juruá, Madeira, Alto Rio Negro, Rio Negro / Solimões, Middle Amazon and Lower Amazon were the microregions evaluated. Data comprised the characteristics of the productive system of each microregion, including the production in dams (ha of flooded area), excavated tank (ha of flooded area), river channel (m3 of flooded area), and network tank (m3 of flooded area), plus total production of fish per microregion (tons). Results show that excavated / semi-excavated dams and tanks constitute the predominant systems of fish production in the state of Amazonas. The stream channel, detected in almost all microregions analyzed, was mainly used in the microregions of the Rio Negro/Solimões and Middle Amazonas. The net tank was the system used in the least number of microregions by fish farming in the state of Amazonas. Fish production was predominantly observed in the microregions of Rio Negro/Solimões, Madeira and Middle Amazonas.
