Abstract

7-Propargyloxy-4-methylcoumarin (PgCo) was polymerized, leading to a new polyacetylene with coumarin-containing side groups. Two different catalytic systems were applied for polymerization: (i) MoCl5 combined with Bu4Sn or EtAlCl2 cocatalyst in benzene; and (ii) PdCl2 in dimethylformamide (DMF). The reaction conditions corresponding with those for the best polymerization of substituted phenyl propargyl ethers were chosen.
