Abstract

The article offers information on the progression, best athletes and the strongest nations listed in the long course world records for 52-year period. It states that the city of Sydney is the city with the largest number of world records, followed by Los Angeles. Moreover, backstroke events have registered the highest number of world records for men and women. Furthermore, the longer freestyle events in the women's field is dominated by the American athletes.
