Abstract

In recent years heterostructured semiconductor nanomaterials (NMs) have gained significant attention in the detection of several pollutants for environmental remediation. These materials exhibit enhanced properties and potential applications for ecological growth. In environmental monitoring, eterostructured semiconductor NMs have shown great promise in detecting and quantifying various pollutants and contaminants in air, water, and soil. Their high sensitivity, selectivity, and rapid response make them ideal candidates for developing advanced sensing platforms. This chapter aims to provide an overview of the current research and development of different heterostructured semiconductor NMs for sensing in different fields. Furthermore, we have explored different kinds of sensors with their sensing mechanism. Therefore this study provides valuable information in the domain of NM-based sensors for sensing of different pollutants in the environment.
