Abstract

This paper reviews the alternative uses of card sorting in the context of interactive system and digital document design. Our presentation will follow a series of tests, from data collection to interpretation, completed to inform the definition of the information architecture of a university department website. Beyond the state of the literature, our goal is, based on this empirical investigation, to introduce a method for the collection, analysis and interpretation of card sorting data, situated in the landscape of existing practices, combing qualitative and quantitative analysis in order to better target the users ' representations. © 2009 Lavoisier, Paris.
