The Morphology of Leptospira icterohemorrhagiae and L. canicola as Revealed by the Electron Microscope

Abstract

The first observation of Leptospira with the electron microscope has enabled accurate measurements of individual organisms to be made. Flagella-like structures, internal structure or extruding granules were not observed. In the treatment with solutions of heavy metal salts, such as lead acetate, the organisms reacted in a manner similar to certain bacteria.
