Abstract

A charging method of sinter segregated into fine and coarse particles was developed in order to improve gas flow distribution in a blast furnace under all coke operation. The distribution of size-segregated sinter at the furnace top was investigated by model tests. The charging method was applied to Muroran No. 4 BF and was effective for a reduction of coke rate and improvement in gas permeability.
