Abstract

The control of the intracolumnar organization of disc-shaped polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons has essential influence on material's properties including thermotropic behavior and charge carrier transport which are crucial for applications in organic electronics. The utilization of a broad toolbox of peripheral substitution allows well-defined modification of the molecular interactions and packing within helical columnar stacks (see figure). © 2010 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co.
