Analysis of High School Textbooks on Earth Materials Based on Representation of Multiple Intelligences

Abstract

The goal of this study was to see what types of multiple intelligences are described in grade 10 Senior High School textbooks (earth material). Each type of Gardner's multiple intelligences is reflected in each student activity in the textbook on the earth theme, thus the study data is in the form of a list of student activities that have been assessed according to the type of multiple intelligences. The results of the data recapitulation are in the form of frequency and percentages for each type of multiple intelligence The type of logical-mathematical intelligence has the highest percentage (29%) in the textbook analysis, followed by 19% for verbal-linguistic intelligence, 18% for visual-spatial intelligence, 7% for kinesthetic intelligence, 0% for musical intelligence, 5% for interpersonal intelligence, and 5% for intrapersonal intelligence. The percentage results show that earth science textbooks do not cater to the sort of musical intelligence.
