Abstract
The objective of this research was to propose an optimal polyethylene terephthalate recycling solution for a processing plant in Sucre, Bolivia. To accomplish what was proposed, the study was presented in three stages: description of the general transformation process based on theoretical and practical contributions; description of the transformation process based on experimentation in a transformer plant in Buenos Aires, Argentina; application of Muther’s methodology to design the alternative distribution of the plant. As a result, two important findings were identified:[1] there is high variation between the balances of materials extracted from the state of the art and those obtained in the experimental stage; [2] the quality of the final product depends on the control at each stage of the separation of waste metals, polypropylene, and low-density polyethylene. The proposal presented favors efficiency in the process, reducing the number of hours worked and raising the quality of the finished product.
