Abstract

The social background of research on adhesion and adhesive bonding is reviewed. Next, the interphase in the adhesive bond is defined, and the multi-scale and hierarchical structures contained in the interface are arranged based on their sizes. Finally, the analytical methodologies this book introduces to elucidate interfacial phenomena in adhesion and adhesive bonding are overviewed.
