The socio-educational dimension of community-based radio stations: a study from the ethics of care

Abstract

This article aims to explore the socio-educational dimension of community-based radio from the perspective of the ethics of care. To this end, 12 life-story interviews of people who participated in community radios from Spain, Uruguay and Argentina were collected. The socio-emotional learning reported by people participating in these radios has been analysed using three categories of analysis: care of oneself, of others, and of the environment. The main goal is to show both the pedagogical potential of community-based radio stations in relation to socio-emotional learning and the importance of creating alliances between these radio stations and formal educational institutions for the benefit of society as a whole.
