Abstract

Storage of light in the vapor of rubidium atoms was achieved by decelerating the light pulses. Dynamically reducing the group velocity of light pulses to zero was the main theme behind the act. Coherent excitation of light pulses were mapped onto a Zeeman coherence of rubidium vapor. Light pulse were stored in atomic coherence which could be converted back into a light pulse after a controllable delay.
