Abstract

The present work experimented with ladle desulfurization by powder injection under reduced pressure in comparison with under atmospheric pressure. It was found that powder injection under reduced pressure provides a high stirring force, activates the entrapment of top slag and accelerates the desulfurization reaction involved. © 1989, The Iron and Steel Institute of Japan.
