Abstract
Summary: A review of fat embolism and the fat embolism syndrome is presented, emphasizing the incidence, aetiology, pathology, clinical picture, laboratory findings and treatment. The importance of the role of the anaesthetist in dealing with the potentially lethal respiratory effects is stressed. © 1970 John Sherratt and Son Ltd.
