Abstract

The research objective was to describe the use of reference collections as thesis writing literacy for final grade Madura State Islamic Institute (IAIN) students. The research approach is qualitative by doing cross check between real conditions using theory and descriptive method. Research chose a location in the IAIN Madura Library and the informants of this study were selected from a group of female students and employees of IAIN Madura, as users and managers of reference collections at the UPT Library of IAIN Madura. The data collection technique is to use: observation, Interview, and document. While. Checking the validity of the findings in this study adopts 3 ways: credibility, dependability, and confirmability. The results showed that: the types of collections that are used as supporting literature for student final project writing are mostly theses, then journals and textbooks, the availability of reference collections owned by the Madura IAIN Library is mostly student theses or final assignments, textbooks and printed journals as well as online journals, and the reference collection of dictionaries, theses, journals and Islamic books is used by students as reference materials that support the completion of thesis writing.
