Abstract

Indonesia is a country with the largest consumption of palm oil which still cannot be separated from the use of used cooking oil until now. Used cooking oil is not suitable for consumption, apparently it does not make people afraid of the negative impacts that will result, such as the outbreak of various types of diseases. Therefore, innovation by utilizing kluwek shell waste as a natural adsorbent for used cooking oil can help the community in processing used cooking oil to be more suitable for consumption. With certain formulations, namely variations in charcoal mass of 5g, 10g, and 15g, kluwek shell effectively adsorb used cooking oil which in the end can result in a decrease in free fatty acid levels in used cooking oil. Purification with activated charcoal kluwek shell initial % FFA content of 3.62% to 0.13%.
