Abstract

Recently, titanium-zirconium (Ti-Zr) alloys have garnered significant research attention due to their excellent properties. Herein, the thermal compression behavior and microstructural evolution of Ti-30Zr-5Al-3V (wt%, Ti-30-5-3) alloys in lower α + β region are studied using EBSD and TEM methods. The peak stress, compressed at 660 ℃, is found to be much higher than the sample compressed at 680 ℃ due to deformation localization and lower content of β phase. Moreover, the grain size of α phase increases monotonously with the increase in deformation temperature. Furthermore, the fractions of low angle grain boundaries (LAGBs) were much higher than high angle grain boundaries (HAGBs) in β phase due to the effect of dynamic recovery (DRV). Overall, these findings provide useful insights into the thermal deformation process of Ti-Zr alloys.
