Abstract

In general, the behavior of traders in Karangwaru Yogyakarta market in handling majority waste always throw garbage at its place when at home, in market, road, and place of worship. The reason for the behavior is due to habit and to live healthy. However there are still some traders who do not throw garbage in place. The main cause is the absence of trash facilities. Knowledge of the benefits of waste and diseases that can be caused by waste is already known to most traders. As for hand- washing behavior, traders always wash their hands before eating, after meals, after the bathroom, when they feel dirty, and after working on the grounds to live healthy. However, traders are not accustomed to washing hands with soap due to the lack of facilities (soap) provided in the sinks or toilets. Keywords:
