Abstract
In the context of the Indonesian historiography, it"s hard for us to find a region, or kampong, functioning the spatial aspect in the topics done by the historians. Though recently the historical objects in Indonesia have started from the macro history, basing upon the approaches of social science, to the micro history, leaning towards the daily experiences of the common people, the study of history is still not targeted to historical region. To say frankly is that the most objects were the historical towns and the historical villages. Even, postmodern and postcolonial streams, which are now the trends followed by many historians, are not fully in the tiniest locus. However, they tend to have arguments on new discourses and free perspectives. A question that should be delivered is about where the position of the historical regions in the context of the Indonesia"s historiographical books is. Is historical region not proper to become the object of study because it"s not interesting at all and also because it contributes little to the establishment of the Indonesian national awareness and development? This paper would answer those questions.
