Abstract

Okra (Abelmoschus esculentus L.) is widely grown in Côte d'Ivoire, with a national production of over 183,000 tons in 2022. This crop is subject to several biotic constraints, including okra mosaic virus (OkMV) and cucumber mosaic virus (CMV). This study assessed the distribution of CMV and OkMV in Côte d'Ivoire. A survey was carried out in 26 localities covering six agro-ecological zones (AEZs). In each locality, three plots were visited. Disease incidence and severity were assessed per plot on 31 plants along the two diagonals using a severity rating scale. The samples collected were analyzed by DAS ELISA using polyclonal antibodies. The results showed that OkMV and CMV, had an incidence ranging from 4.5 to 69.26%, and a severity index ranging from 2.50 to 71.70%. Serological analysis detected OkMV and CMV in the localities visited. The study showed that OkMV and CMV were present in the okra plots visited, with incidences and severities that varied according to the AEZs. OkMV was detected in AEZ I and IV, while CMV was present in AEZs II, III, IV, V and VII.
