Abstract
Through a conceptual framework we aim to understand the specific inequalities of female academics in the STEM field, considering the different mechanisms of women’s subalternity. We use a gender perspective to investigate the structural and power configurations affecting women, as well as an intersectional perspective given the complex and dynamic configuration of the main axes of inequality that impact the experiences of female academics. Technically, we reviewed secondary sources, especially indexed journals. Substantively, we highlighted the articulation of gender and academic regimes as a mechanism of subjection, turning universities into spaces that produce and reproduce gender inequalities.
