Abstract
In this comment on the proposals regarding the generic name Pectinaria (Bull. Zool. Nomencl., vol. 34: 112; vol 35: 18, 25) the author asks that the Law of Priority be applied as long as it is practical but not if stability of names or usage is threatened. It is considered that at the Family level no serious difficulties will arise if the Law of Priority is applied and Amphectenidae is used. At the genus level the author urges that the generic name Pectinaria be preserved and Cistena suppressed.
