Abstract

This chapter discusses on the materials, mostly composed of calcium and silicate (main components of PC) that are commercially available. It briefly introduces several new formulations of experimental calcium silicate-based cements. The chapter discusses the chemical composition and physical properties of portland cement (PC), Angelus MTA, bioaggregate (BA), biodentine (BD), iRoot, calcium enriched mixture (CEM) Cement, MTA fillapex, endo-CPM, cimento endodontico rapido (CER), EndoSequence, ProRoot Endo Sealer, MTA Plus, Ortho MTA, MTA Bio, MTA sealer (MTAS), fluoride-doped MTA cement, Capasio, Generex A, Ceramicrete-D, nano-modified MTA (NMTA), light-cured MTA, calcium silicate (CS) and Endocem. It also discusses on antibacterial activity, sealing ability, biocompatibility, in vivo investigations, clinical applications and limitations of certain calcium silicate-based cements.
